When someone says “wedding,” the first place that comes to mind for a lot of locals is The Mansion House. This Victorian manor in Jesmond has that stately, old-world charm that instantly sets the tone for a classic celebration.

Inside, it’s all warm wood panelling, ornate ceilings, and grand staircases, ideal for a rich romantic palette. Outside, the landscaped gardens give you loads of space for photos or drinks on the lawn.

What’s great is that this venue is licensed for both ceremonies and receptions, so you can keep everything in one place. You can even bring your own suppliers and plan things your way, without being boxed into a set package.

Compared to other stately venues in the area, The Mansion is surprisingly affordable with a starting price of £590.

If you’re looking for history with a bit of edge, I’d recommend The Common Room. This beautifully restored Victorian building in the heart of the city is steeped in North East heritage—once home to the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers.

Step inside and you’ll get soaring ceilings, arched windows, and tons of character. It’s almost like stepping into a Hogwarts-esque space with its majestic charm. The main hall is suitable for both sit-down meals and late-night dancing.

It’s fully licensed for ceremonies, and the in-house team offers tailored wedding packages that include bar service, staffing, and AV. You’re also right next to Newcastle Central Station, which is a lifesaver for out-of-town guests.

You wouldn’t expect to find such a bold wedding venue hidden in the middle of Newcastle’s Central Station, but The Boiler Shop is full of surprises.

After years, it has been creatively repurposed into one of the city’s coolest event spaces. With its industrial vibes and striking architecture, it’s a bold choice that leans cool rather than traditional. So, it’s a hit with modern couples.

As far as nearby attractions go, you’re in a prime location. Step outside and you’ve got the iconic architecture of the Stephenson Quarter. A short stroll will also get you to the Quayside, perfect for riverside photos with the Tyne Bridges in the background.

The Chandelier Room can accommodate up to 300 seated guests or 800 standing guests, with hire fees starting from £1,800 per day. For more intimate gatherings, the Regency Room is available from £800 per day.

I love how these spaces offer flexibility, allowing you to tailor your celebration to your specific needs. There’s even a bit of history to make your day even more special—yes, Charles Dickens once gave a reading here.

It’s located at Hoults Yard, and this industrial space features exposed brick, wooden ceiling trusses, and an urban character that you’d expect from a creative studio.

It accommodates up to 350 seated or 600 standing, providing ample space to host a large gathering or maintain an intimate and stylish atmosphere.

However, prices aren’t listed publicly. Though similar venues in Newcastle start at around £1,250. So, I suggest contacting them directly for a tailored quote.

The Secret Tower really is hidden. It turns out that this 15th-century tower was designed that way. It used to be a lookout for the city’s watchmen, quietly keeping an eye on Newcastle from behind the walls.

So, you’d never guess there’s a wedding venue up here with panoramic views over the Tyne and the rooftops of Newcastle.

It’s also originally part of the city’s medieval defences. It’s small and stylish, blending heritage elements with minimalist interiors featuring stone walls and sleek furniture.

It also has a seated capacity of around 60, making it ideal for smaller guest lists and couples who prefer a more intimate ceremony atmosphere.

But what really stood out was their in-house catering. Their team works with you to create something that feels tailored for your big day.

In fact, menus are seasonal and surprisingly flexible. They can even be customised from a formal three-course meal to themed canapés for cocktail hour, or to accommodate a specific dietary request.

Another plus is their bridal suite. It’s spacious and designed with prep time in mind. It also features ample natural light, comfortable seating, and a spacious area for the entire wedding party, which I really like.

In fact, it has multiple options, including a Georgian house and beautiful gardens that make for stunning photos. You can even enjoy their outdoor spaces, where you might opt for a marquee or tipi if the weather’s on your side.
