Top 5 commercial interior designers in Newcastle for modern business spaces

Extensiveness of Portfolio: I selected interior designers who worked with a variety of clients and could also showcase past projects personally or on their websites.

Styles and Specialisations: I went for interior designers who specialise in boutique or restaurant/cafe styles, since these are the most common types of businesses that utilise their services.

Pricing Transparency: I chose interior designers who offer accurate quotations that match or equal the final bill.

Speed of Service: I selected interior designers who offer short, speedy project durations, allowing businesses to open and operate as soon as possible.

The one aspect of a business you simply can’t skimp on is the interior. While a lovely exterior attracts customers, the interior is what truly sells them to become regulars.

This is where the help of commercial interior designers comes into play. Their knowledge and expertise can easily turn any boring interior into a beloved one for regulars.

With this in mind, I’ve searched far and wide for the best commercial interior designers in Newcastle. I’m sure that with them on your side, you’ll have several regulars enjoying that beautiful decor.

How much do commercial interior designers charge in Newcastle?

Commercial interior designers in Newcastle typically charge between £50 and £200 per hour. This doesn’t account for other factors, such as the project’s scope and size and the materials used.

Design Tonic focuses on offices that are out of this world. Their projects focus on inspiring workers through colourful designs that are both functional and flexible.

I was impressed that they’ve worked with several brands, such as The Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Wizu, showcasing their range and capabilities. Their main sectors are offices, food, and retail brands.

Still, I wish they worked with the hospitality sector, since their designs are quite comfortable.

Nonetheless, I like that their process is fairly simple, with evaluation and analysis being the longest part. The design and construction are quick and are usually 30% shorter than the expected plan.

Clients love that they don’t have to worry about the process, since Design Tonic’s project managers handle it all. For unsure clients, they can go on existing site tours. I’ve gone on one myself, and the offices were stunning.

Pros

  • Focuses on offices
  • Worked with several known brands
  • Simple process
  • On-site project managers

Cons

  • Only focuses on three sectors (offices, food, and retail brands)

They are all really good people to work with

“Design Tonic recently created a space for us and have to say, they are all really good people to work with. From the initial meetings, they understood the brief, added loads of value and took our ideas and improved upon them. Everyone was very responsive to our queries and requests and from the design team to the project manger to the fitters, Design Tonic are a pleasure to work with. Thank you. :)”

Design Tonic is easy to work with

“We’ve worked with DT for multiple projects over the years ranging from a minor refurbishment of one of our offices to a high-budget fit out of a new c. 12,000sqft office space in a city centre location. Design Tonic are easy to work with, flexible, knowledgeable and personable. I’d be happy to recommend DT to any contacts in need of commercial design & build services.”

GR Design Studios focuses on creating functional spaces for restaurants and bars. George and Ray, the company heads, often construct unique dining experiences that leave customers raving about the interior even after they’ve left.

The spaces they craft are built on the client’s branding, integrating certain colours and even logos into the build. After seeing some of these spaces, I can tell they’re visually appealing yet highly functional.

Clients have described their renovated spaces as a blend of luxury and comfort. I’ve also seen them decorate and design hotel lobbies and guest rooms that all share the same vibe.

I also quite like their approach. They go for a timeless elegance that blends classic building styles with high-quality materials, offering a homely space. Additionally, they also work with residential clients.

With all these positives in mind, it’s worth noting that their services are on the pricier side.

Pros

  • Focuses on bars and restaurants
  • Decorates hotel lobbies and guest rooms
  • Crafts spaces using the client’s branding
  • Works with commercial and residential clients

Cons

  • Expensive service

The salon is sleek, chic, and unique

“I asked George Bond if he would interior design the new property (salon) as it was in such a mess when we got it. He then introduced me to his Partner Ray Watkins and together they ascertained my needs in a very supportive yet constructive way. What they wanted was for when people came into the salon was the “wow” factor and Oh my God they certainly delivered. The salon is sleek, chic and unique and my clients were certainly wowed when they entered the salon. I can highly recommend George and Ray the salon is certainly very stylish, but most importantly they offered their expertise whilst always focusing on what we wanted. Thank you George and Ray – who are going to help me with my next venture

Absolute Interior Design is led by Jason Short, who is an interior designer with over 30 years of experience. What I love about him is that consultations are free, so clients can easily gauge whether his services are a good fit (they usually are).

He focuses on bringing light and colour into a space. Aside from that, he can work with a variety of tastes, from contemporary to traditional spaces. His services also earned a Certificate of Excellence from Bark, which showcases his exceptional work.

His main focus is on offices and restaurants, but he’s also dabbled in designing for malls. These spaces are full of creativity, and Jason’s custom furnishings truly make them pop.

Despite these customised furnishings, I found their designs to be too simplistic, focusing too much on colour.

Still, clients can simply sit back and relax as Jason handles everything for them.

Pros

  • Over 30 years of experience
  • Offers free consultations
  • Won Certificate of Excellence
  • Unique interior design philosophy

Cons

  • Simplistic designs

Collective Design is a multi-award-winning interior design firm that focuses on bespoke interiors for the hospitality and commercial sectors. I quite like that they specialise in bars and pubs, and they’ve worked with clients across Europe and the UK.

However, I wish they expanded their scope to office spaces, since their projects are truly one-of-a-kind.

The firm was established in 2010 and is led by Simon McIlwraith, who has found success in today’s market for his originality and creativity.

Everything here starts with a concept and an idea. These are done through briefings and mood boards, which I found to be quite personal. Additionally, they continuously develop the brand throughout this process, which benefits clients.

Through their collective approach, they focus on maintaining and innovating a brand’s voice through their designs. Clients love that the company has connections with manufacturers, so each piece they receive is uniquely theirs.

  • Over 10 years of experience
  • Focuses on hospitality and commercial sectors
  • Worked with clients across Europe and the UK
  • Easy-to-understand process

Cons

  • Doesn’t work with office spaces
