Established in 1887, Isaac Walton has been a staple in Newcastle for their wonderful custom-made clothing. For the past 17 years, they’ve been located in Westgate, a historic, easily accessible area.
Their bespoke process is fairly simple, and all is done in their workrooms. While their clothing is limited to gamekeepers’ wear, shooting suits, and hats, it is still wonderfully made and of high quality.
The cloth they use is sourced from British merchants, such as Dugdale Bros and Duffin & Peace. The tweeds they create are best suited to sporting wear and can withstand the rough weather of North-East England.
These are also highly customisable, with clients adoring the shop’s welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, services are quick and can handle tight deadlines.
Out of all their tailors, most adore Susan. She’s a great people person who truly knows what each customer needs and wants for their tweeds and hats.

Leaf Clothing has several locations across Newcastle, with notable ones in Gateshead and Whickham. They’ve been in business for over 40 years, and I was impressed by how personal and friendly their service was.
Their services range from menswear to ladieswear, offering a wide range of styles for clients. Additionally, they offer shoes and accessories whenever they’re in stock.
I’d describe their style as ‘classic with a twist’, utilising fun colours and integrating them into wonderfully designed pieces. Their tailoring services are available for all these items, allowing clients to look sharp while feeling comfortable.
I was a bit disappointed that they only had a few items stocked. However, this practice allows them to customise and personalise each piece, truly showcasing their goal of bespoke dresswear.

Premium Bespoke focuses on menswear. I love that each visit fully utilises a customer’s time, since they take over 20 measurements that showcase how truly customisable their clothes are.
The best part about their services is that they can bring them anywhere. Clients enjoy that Premium bespoke provides all the necessary tools, alongside a selection of fabrics for them to choose from.
As for the types of clothing, I found them best for formal and evening wear. Additionally, some clients have used them for simple dress shirts to great effect.
I’ve even spoken to one who asked them to make sweaters, and they were luxurious and soft because they were made of cashmere.
While they don’t offer services to women, I still love that they’re honest about pricing. A 2-piece suit is fairly priced at around £550, while shirts can cost around £150.

Golden Stitch offers services to brides and grooms, creating fanciful clothing that truly makes the day special. They’re also an alteration service, so if you’ve got an old wedding dress lying around, they’ll surely make it fit just right.
Their alteration services aren’t limited to wedding attire. I’ve been here several times to have jeans and shirts adjusted to size, and they’ve all been done beautifully and fairly quickly.
Their dressmakers are thorough in their measurements, offering clients valuable insights into the process. I quite like the designs of their clothing, as they offer a traditional look that doesn’t feel like drab to wear.
Several plus-sized clients remarked how accommodating the shop was, adjusting wedding dresses and suits to fit perfectly.
Still, I wish they tailored more than just wedding attire, since their stitching is truly seamless.

Super Stitchfix is led by Najma, a great tailor who can create custom clothing for just about anyone. Aside from clothes, she can also create great curtains, which I found to be a unique service that’s rarely utilised.
Trousers are her speciality, as she’s able to alter old ones and sew new ones into whatever the client needs. Additionally, she can adjust the waist size and length of any of these, which I found to be quite handy.
Aside from trousers, she can also stitch together dresses and even traditional cultural wear. These look amazing, and you can barely tell that any work was done on them.
Najma’s process is also fairly quick, only needing 3 days for rush orders. Still, I wish she had a storefront to showcase her talent, since she mainly works from home. But this does result in lower prices, which is an acceptable trade-off.
All done in one day, and the quality of her work is excellent
