Top 5 electricians in Newcastle who keep homes powered and safe

Electrical Expertise and Services Offered: I reviewed each company’s capabilities, from small repairs and appliance installations to complex wiring and energy-efficient lighting solutions.

Tools, Technology, and Safety Practices: I looked for electricians who use advanced diagnostic equipment, follow strict industry safety codes, and maintain well-prepared worksites that respect clients’ homes.

Pricing Transparency and Project Estimates: I prioritised companies that provide detailed quotes and flexible service options for their customers.

Professional Background and Customer Reviews: I selected electricians with strong credentials and positive feedback, especially those recognised for clear communication and high-quality results.

When I first moved into my own place, I didn’t think much about finding an electrician. I figured that with the right tools and a few online tutorials, I could easily fix a socket.

But after dealing with a few wire issues, I realised I wasn’t cut out for this and needed an expert, fast. Electricians in Newcastle keep your home safe and efficient, ensuring every switch and appliance works exactly as it should.

Luckily, Newcastle has many skilled pros who take pride in their craft. Whether you’re renovating or troubleshooting, these experts deliver quality service that keeps your home bright and worry-free.

How much do electrical services cost in Newcastle?

In Newcastle, electrical services generally cost between £50 and £150 per hour, depending on the type of work, the electrician’s experience, and the difficulty of the job. Simple repairs, such as fixing switches or sockets, are cheaper.

When I first called Tyneside Electrical Services Ltd, I assumed I’d just be scheduling a basic socket fix. What I got was a team that also stressed the importance of full safety compliance and long-term reliability.

Their re-wiring and consumer-unit upgrades really stood out. They explained how even small faults could affect the whole system, and the approach was thorough, which helped me understand everything more.

They handle everything from full or partial rewires to electrical condition reports, making sure everything runs safely and efficiently.

What I appreciated most was their five-year workmanship guarantee. It’s a promise that speaks volumes about their confidence and reliability. It’s reassuring to know they’ll stand by their work long after the job’s done.

The only downside? They don’t handle highly specialised industrial projects. If you need specialist solutions, you might need a dedicated expert beyond this team.

Pros

  • Offers full and partial rewiring
  • Provides electrical condition reports
  • Safety-focused approach
  • Prioritises compliance and system efficiency
  • Five-year workmanship guarantee

Cons

  • Does not handle specialised projects

Super efficient and kept us advised as they went along

“We required an electrical installation report for the sale of our property which was carried out quickly and efficiently by the 2 guys.  They were polite and did not impose on us just carried out the various tests, etc, without any fuss.  Super efficient and kept us advised as they went along (they were late due to an emergency dental appointment but contacted us ASAP to let us know).  Once completed, they kept us informed of the process as to when we would receive the cert and it arrived as they said.  We’ve kept this company on out system to use again in the future.  Would 100% recommend.”

Very good customer service

“I used Tyneside Electrical Services Ltd (TES) to replace my broken bathroom shower with a new one, install a new power socket  for the dishwasher and another extra USB power socket to the kitchen wall recently.  We are extremely satisfied with their high standard good quality jobs they carried out and wonderful customer service offered by this company.

After initial phone call with Augustine, he quickly made an appointment for me to carry out initial survey at my home.  He and his team were friendly, polite and very professional.  He explained to me all the necessary information that I need to know very clearly and for my expectation.  In the same afternoon I got a detailed quote for my each job and after accepting the reasonable price quote, arranged a start date a few days later.  He always contacted with me over the phone and helped me to choose best product available in the market to meet my expectations.

They were all professional and skill full, Augustine and his friend Attila arrived on time and done a great job in high standard with a great care.  The process was smooth, quick and efficient. The team has very good customer service,  excellent communication and understanding of the customers expectations. That’s the great.  The  process was very quick and efficient.

We are extremely satisfied customers and highly recommend Augustine and his team in the TES to anyone who is expecting professional high quality any electrical work.

Thank you so much for your exceptional jobs guys. See you again soon.

With over a decade of experience, Flash Electrical has earned a solid reputation as a trusted, full-service electrical contractor.

One of the things that really impressed me was their design & installation offering. From full rewires and three-phase installations to emergency lighting and fire alarm systems, they handle everything.

Another standout is their Inspection, Testing, & Certification Package. They cover EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) to third-party testing with clear quotes and no hidden costs.

Yes, you’re not just getting reactive support when something breaks. Instead, you’re getting compliant work that helps you avoid safety issues down the road.

The only limitation? While they’re great with a broad range of commercial and industrial work, they don’t do large manufacturing circuits or bespoke renewable installations. You need a contractor focused solely on those niches.

Pros

  • Decade of industry experience
  • Comprehensive design & installation services
  • Offers certification packages
  • Provides thorough inspections
  • Ensures long-term safety and compliance
  • Transparent pricing

Cons

  • Does not handle large manufacturing circuits
  • Does not specialise in bespoke installations

Did the job to a very high standard

“Paul at Flash Electrical installed electrics & a network point for my log cabin studio / office. He was punctual, friendly, and reasonably priced – and did the job to a very high standard with no disruption to the garden. When he quoted, there was no cabin there – but he understood exactly what I was after (more so even than I did), and was able to fulfill it when the cabin was built a couple of months later. I’d have no hesitation in recommending him to others, and will likely use him again when I need more electrical work doing.”

Nothing is too much trouble for these guys

“I’ve had a number of jobs done by Flash Electrical, I have always been very happy with standard of work and professionalism show by Paul and his team!

They always turn up when they say, don’t mess you about, very fair and reasonable prices.

Nothing is too much trouble for these guys, always get the problem solved and job completed.

I am more then happy to recommend these guys to any of fmy family and friends, I will continue to use them for all of my electrical requirements

Thanks very much”

When I visited SB Electrical, I was surprised by how they handle every assignment, big or small.

One thing I like is their EV charger installation service. If you drive electric or plan to switch, they make it easy. Instead of relying on crowded public charging areas, you can do it safely at home.

This isn’t just convenient, it’s cost-effective and smart in the long run. They also use high-quality German-engineered chargers, so you know you’re in good hands. I also like how they offer free consultations and upfront pricing before anything.

They even handle the technical bits, such as power load checks and cable routing. They’ve refined the process to make switching to electric cars easier.

If there’s one small limitation, it’s that they mainly focus on home setups rather than large fleet charging systems. Their focus is mainly on homeowners who want to switch to electric cars without spending too much on charging.

Pros

  • Specialises in EV charger installations
  • High-quality German charging systems
  • Free consultations
  • Transparent and upfront pricing
  • Handles all technical aspects of projects
  • Streamlined process for cost-effectiveness

Cons

  • Primarily focuses on residential setups

The install was perfect for us

“We were looking at getting an EV charger installed. Scott came recommended as we were quoted silly prices as the install was slightly awkward. Scott came and quoted for the job. We instantly liked him. He even managed to get me the charger cheaper than I could get it which was amazing.

The install was perfect for us. Neat and tidy and he knows what he’s doing. His work ethic is fantastic. Tradesmen of this quality are hard to come by, you need to be able to trust the person as they’re in your house. We had 0 issues and will definitely be using and recommending Scott in the future.”

Can’t thank the team enough for helping me out at such short notice

“Had an emergency with a power cut caused by an overprotection device failing. After calling Nothern Powergrid to remove main fuse, my initial electrician wouldn’t come back to complete the work. Did a google search for local electricians and came across Scott. After calling and explaining my predicament he was at my door 2 hours later. He also spoke with Northern Powergrid on my behalf to arrange for the main fuse to be reinstalled after fixing the problem. Can’t thank him enough for helping me out at such short notice when others were too busy. On his recommendation I’ve now had an isolator installed that will make any future electrical work easier and safer. He also went away and researched the component that had failed and reassured me that I wouldn’t need to replace it as it was installed initially with solar panels. Highly recommend Scott and being so local I will not hesitate to call on him again should the need arise”

A friend of mine recently mentioned Great North Electricals, so I decided to check their work. I can now see why many homeowners trust them.

The moment I spoke to the team, I felt they weren’t just aiming to patch things up. They genuinely cared about the safety and comfort of my home.

What really stood out was their house-rewiring service. They explained how older wiring can struggle with modern demands, and how a full rewire isn’t just about fixing faults. It’s about future-proofing your home.

Equally impressive was their offering for a fuse-box upgrade. They pointed out that outdated consumer units are a common safety issue, and upgrading lets you add more sockets, high-power circuits, and better protection for the whole system.

One small limitation is that the company focuses solely on domestic rewires and upgrades and excels at them. So, extremely large-scale commercial installations aren’t a fit for their expertise.

Pros

  • Specialises in high-quality house rewiring
  • Experts in fuse-box upgrades
  • Provides clear explanations and expert advice
  • Friendly and safety-conscious team
  • Provides long-term electrical solutions

Cons

  • Services are limited to domestic projects

Carried out the work with the absolute minimum amount of mess

“Steve recently completed a full house rewire on my elderly Mother’s 3 bedroom semi & he did an excellent job.  My Mother was quite concerned about having the work done but Steve was so helpful right from the start, explaining everything to us & he carried out the work with the absolute minimum amount of mess and upheaval.  I would absolutely not hesitate to recommend him & he will be the first person I contact in future for any electrical work I need doing.”

The pricing was very reasonable

“I can’t recommend Steve highly enough! I had an urgent electrical issue with my fuse board that left me with no power. Despite being on holiday, Steve came out straight away, fixed the immediate problem so I had electricity again, and then scheduled a full fuse board replacement.

While completing the job, he identified several other issues with sockets and switches, which he sorted out on the spot. He also gave us helpful recommendations for further improvements, which we’ll definitely be getting him back to complete. On top of all that, his pricing was very reasonable. Truly reliable, professional, and goes above and beyond – thank you, Steve!”

I discovered the Ridley Bros. of Gosforth, and now I understand why they’ve been a trusted company among locals for 6 decades.

I found it refreshing to see a company that doesn’t treat emergency lighting as an afterthought, but as a core offering. They handle installation, testing, and maintenance. This ensures that when the lights go out, safety doesn’t.

Another service I like is their commercial electrical services. From lighting installations to full-scale business wiring, they clearly cater to companies that need more than a standard electrician.

The company clearly understands complex systems and long-term service. Given their over 65 years of experience and NICEIC accreditation, their credibility is hard to ignore.

My only concern is that the ultra-specialised niches like industrial power systems or cutting-edge renewable integration aren’t available here. You’d have to check in with other specialists for that.

Pros

  • Has 65 years of trusted experience
  • Comprehensive emergency lighting
  • Offers expert commercial electrical services
  • NICEIC-accredited team
  • Strong reputation for reliability and professionalism
  • Offers lighting and full-wiring systems

Cons

  • Does not cover ultra-specialised industrial systems

Great family-run firm

“I’ve known and used this family firm for more than 20 years. No job is ever too big or too small. They’ve done re wiring and building extension jobs for me, sources new items like light fittings to replace old and broken ones, and even changed the odd light bulb!! Great firm, family run with family attitudes to helping wherever they can.”

A superb and very quick response to an urgent issue

“A superb and very quick response to an urgent issue. The problem was identified by phone and then addressed at the earliest possible time. Followed up with excellent service. Superb combination of Andrew Ridley and Callum. Definitely the business to go to.”
