It opened our eyes to how home health care in Newcastle allows people to stay where they feel safest while still getting the support they need. Comfort and care do not have to cancel each other out.
So we compiled a list of the best providers for anyone whose grandparents also need assistance.

Home Instead Newcastle operates from 14 Lansdowne Terrace, Gosforth (NE3 1HN) and serves multiple postcodes across Newcastle and nearby areas.
The business is locally owned by Cath and Andrew Fullerton and also forms part of the wider Home Instead UK network of over 250 offices.
The service holds an Outstanding overall rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), with particular recognition for being well-led and caring.
Care plans are built through an in-home assessment and revised as needs change, with carers matched using recorded preferences, routines, and personality indicators.
Services include hourly and live-in care, personal care, medication management, and more. Specialist provision extends to dementia care, Parkinson’s support, and palliative-adjacent assistance. These are supported by structured training frameworks such as City & Guilds-aligned programmes.
However, the service does not provide registered nursing care, so coordination with external clinical providers is required for medical needs.
Pricing is not published due to the bespoke nature of care, though local market rates typically range from £30–£37 per hour to £200+ per day for live-in arrangements.
Goes above and beyond
“Home Instead undertake care visits to my Mum several times a week. I have arranged for my Mum’s care over the last decade and Home Instead are, unbelievably, the fourth company that I have instructed – the contrast between the three previous companys is enormous – both in terms of quality of care and the management of the company . My Mum has been appointed 2 carers, both of whom are absolutely lovely, who go above and beyond and whose visits my Mum now looks forwards to. My Mum currently looks better than she has in quite some time and her happiness at present is really testament to the care she is receiving from Home Instead. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.”

Care delivery centres on scheduled, visit-based support, including personal care, dementia support, and palliative care. It also covers specialised medical assistance such as wound management, infusion therapy, and tube feeding support.

Nonetheless, they have a cloud-based care management system that allows real-time updates to care notes and task logs, with changes acknowledged within 24 hours.
Pricing is discussed privately and varies by complexity, aligning with Newcastle’s typical £25–£45+ hourly range for domiciliary and specialist care.
Supportive, kind-hearted, and responsible
“The best carer company I’ve ever found. The boss is very supportive, kind-hearted and responsible. He always tries his utmost best to help his clients and family. The carers we’ve had are all caring, friendly, patient, hardworking and understanding. The fees for a carer is very reasonable and the lowest I’ve found so far in Newcastle. The company takes a lot of pressure and worries off your shoulders. I am ever so grateful to have found this company. Highly recommended.”

Contact Details: +441912836970
Business Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 8 AM – 7 PM
- Saturday and Sunday: 9 AM – 5:30 PM
Helping Hands Home Care operates from 274 Chillingham Road, NE6 5LQ. They cover areas including Gateshead, Wallsend, North Shields, and Whitley Bay.
The branch forms part of Helping Hands Community Care, a national provider with over 35 years of continuous operation in UK home care.
All services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission. This means personal, live-in, and respite care must meet formal safety and quality benchmarks.
In fact, care options are extensive. They range from hourly visiting care at short weekly intervals to full 24/7 live-in support, including respite and emergency start services.
Support covers personal care, mobility, and dementia-focused assistance. It also includes companionship and practical tasks such as shopping and housework.
Feedback trends are strong too, with public platforms such as Trustpilot showing an average rating of around 4.7 out of 5. This reflects consistent delivery rather than isolated reviews.
One limitation worth flagging is the absence of GP-led or advanced medical nursing services, meaning clinical interventions must be coordinated externally.
Skilled and very kind
“I used helping hands for my mum who was suffering from lewy body dementia.
The service was excellent from being set up to when mum no longer needed the service. The carers were skilled and very kind. I paid for an hours care in the morning and evening and that is exactly what we got. I was given a schedule so I knew exactly when the carers would be arriving and leaving. I would highly recommend Helping Hands.”

Gives me peace of mind
“Following a disastrous period of time with another company I asked HH to take over calling in to see my mother. I live 350 miles away, and with Covid regulations have been unable to get to see her. A carer calls in to see her twice a week, and helps her with the heavier housework, and a little bit of personal care. More importantly it means that Mam gets to see someone, and is able to have a chat and some company. Mam tells me she likes the carer who goes in, and says she works hard. It gives me a little bit of peace of mind, as I know HH will phone me if there are any problems that surface. Thank you HH.”

4. Tyne Trust Healthcare

Address: Dobson House, NE3 3PF
Contact Details: +441913680001
Business Hours:
- Open 24/7
Tyne Trust Healthcare operates primarily as a healthcare staffing and support organisation. The services here focus on supplying trained professionals to nursing homes, residential care homes, and supported living settings across the region.
One important distinction emerges early: this is not a direct domiciliary home care provider. It means that personalised care packages in private homes are not their core offering.
Nevertheless, the organisation’s key strength lies in workforce provision, supplying care environments with NMC-registered nurses and trained healthcare assistants. This helps maintain safe staffing levels and consistent standards of care.
Training and recruitment feature heavily, with structured onboarding and upskilling pathways for healthcare workers. This emphasis supports safer care delivery across the wider Newcastle care ecosystem.
Care is available 24/7 with on-call support. It’s also convenient that they offer a contact form that encourages visitors to enquire about their care needs.
Tyne Trust Healthcare additionally serves areas such as Northumberland, Sunderland, and County Durham, further enhancing their accessibility.
Approachable and responsive
“I worked here as a care worker and had a positive experience overall. The company has made noticeable improvements recently, offering better communication, more consistent shift availability, and stronger support for staff in the field. Management has become more approachable and responsive to feedback, which made a big difference day-to-day. Training and development opportunities have also improved, helping staff feel more confident and valued. It was a good place to gain experience and grow within the care sector.”
- Badhush V. Nazeer, Google Review
