The 5 Best Birthday Party Venues in Newcastle, UK to Throw the Ultimate Bash

  • Exclusive Privacy: We looked for spaces that guarantee you won't have random strangers crashing your milestone event. Total exclusivity keeps your celebration focused on your invited guests.

  • Food and Drink Flexibility: Venues locking you into rigid, overpriced meal packages quickly lose their appeal. We prioritised spots that either adapt their in-house menus to your tastes or let you bring in outside food vendors.

  • Atmosphere and Setting: Nobody wants to celebrate in a lifeless, generic corporate room. We focused on spaces with built-in character, from historic countryside manors to gritty industrial brewery floors.
  • Guest Accessibility: A great party location needs to be easy for everyone to reach. We checked for nearby public transport links, on-site parking, and step-free layouts to accommodate older relatives or pushchairs.

If you’re planning a memorable celebration, finding the best birthday party venue in Newcastle UK can feel like a massive chore. Maybe you want a wild night out, or perhaps you need a fun afternoon spot for the kids.

Either way, picking the right place sets the tone for the entire event. If the logistics start stressing you out, you can always reach out to party planners to handle the heavy lifting.

1. Horton Grange Country House

horton-grange-country-house

Website: hortongrange.co.uk
Address: Berwick Hill Road, Ponteland
Contact: (01661) 860686 | [email protected]
Hours: Available 24/7

Horton Grange offers complete private use of its historic Grade II listed house and four acres of secluded gardens.

When we spoke with a client who attended a summer 40th birthday here last year, they said having the entire estate to themselves made the celebration feel incredibly intimate.

That privacy also makes it easier to personalise the rest of your event. The in-house kitchen team can customise the dining menu around your dietary needs, so you won’t be stuck with generic catering options.

You’ll even have a dedicated event staff member to keep everything running smoothly throughout the day.

The main downside is that the venue has just nine bedrooms across the main house and converted stable block, so most guests will need to arrange taxis or find nearby accommodation.

Pros

  • Expansive four-acre gardens
  • Customised dining menus
  • On-site boutique bedrooms
  • Dedicated planning staff

Cons

  • Limited overnight guest capacity

We will be back

Went to Horton Grange for Sunday lunch to celebrate partner’s birthday. Arrived early and we were led into the bar area where we perused the menu and ordered or meals but weren’t offered drinks. Went to the restaurant, ordered drinks and waited for the food. Fresh crusty bread with butter came then almost immediately the mains arrived. The food was top class, my new favourite Sunday lunch venue and the sticky toffee pudding was also delicious. We will be back.

The charm and elegance of the house, completely stole our hearts

We honestly cannot recommend Horton Grange highly enough – it was quite simply the best day of our lives. From the moment we arrived and met our mate Nick, we just knew it was the one. His warmth, charisma and genuine passion, combined with the beautiful setting and the charm and elegance of the house, completely stole our hearts from the very beginning.

Additionally, their high minimum guest count makes them unsuitable for smaller, intimate gatherings.

  • Straightforward quotes with no hidden charges
  • All-weather outdoor terrace

Cons

  • High minimum guest count
  • Outskirts location; requires arranged transportation

I would highly recommend for whatever your celebration

Held my 40th birthday party here in April and it was absolutely perfect. Every member of staff was so helpful, welcoming and accommodating. All of my guests said how much they loved Tyne Bank as a venue. I would highly recommend for whatever your celebration.

I would definitely recommend this venue for any special occasion

I recently had my 30th birthday at Tyne Bank. From start to finish, the whole experience with the team and venue was excellent.

The booking process and correspondence from Nic was super stress-free, fun and friendly. I was invited for multiple visits and was really given the opportunity to put my own twist on the venue to make my 30th special.

During the event, the bar staff couldn’t do enough for us. The venue was a huge hit with everyone and the recommended DJ and caterers were fantastic.

I would definitely recommend this venue for any special occasion.

After our friend was sorted they gave the rest of us another hour and a free ride

Went with a group of mates for a friends birthday and not long after our session started our friend had an accident causing him to dislocate his knee (NOT PARKS FAULT HIS KNEE IS DODGY 😂). The staff reacted amazing and were very helpful doing as much as they were allowed to do and checked on him whilst we waited for an ambulance. After our friend was sorted they gave the rest of us another hour and a free ride on the zip line which was extremely generous. All the staff asked after him and were very thoughtful

Customer Reviews

The venue was perfect for the occasion

We hired this room for our daughter’s 18th birthday celebration and couldn’t have been happier with our choice.

The venue was perfect for the occasion – beautifully presented, spacious, and created a fantastic atmosphere for all our guests. The staff were wonderful throughout the evening, especially the bar staff (Arian, Ross and Lila) who were friendly, attentive, and made everyone feel welcome. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish and helped make our daughter’s special birthday truly memorable. We would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.

It couldn’t have been a more perfect venue

We hired Tapyard for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday party, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect venue. It’s a great size, comfortably fitted around 80–100 guests, with a massive dance floor and a stage ideal for music, a DJ, and entertainment.

Chris, the manager, was fantastic to deal with from start to finish and really made sure everything ran smoothly. Arian and Nathan behind the bar were also brilliant, friendly, efficient, and always on hand. The whole team went above and beyond to cater to all our requirements.

5. The Common Room

the-common-room

Website: thecommonroom.org.uk
Address: Neville Hall, Westgate Road
Contact: 0191 250 9717 |[email protected]
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

The Common Room boasts a prime city centre location and a highly distinctive heritage setting inside a historic Grade II* listed landmark. They offer scalable, flexible room options that can handle a cosy 50-person dinner or a massive 350-guest blowout.

You can also utilise their in-house chefs, who easily adapt their menus to fit complex custom dietary requirements. If things get lively, the venue can even secure a late-night licence so the drinks keep flowing.

A noticeable drawback is the stepped bar access. Getting into the main bar area requires navigating a few steps, creating a bottleneck and forcing wheelchair users to rely on a platform lift instead of rolling straight in.

Pros

  • Unbeatable city centre location
  • Adaptable room capacities
  • Late-night licence available
  • Historic stained-glass architecture

Cons

  • Stepped entry to the bar area

Gorgeous hidden gem

Gorgeous hidden gem very close to Newcastle Central Station. Such a fitting venue for a thrilling and intense production of Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus’. Catch it if you can – it’s on over the Halloween season and there’s a licensed bar/coffee available to enjoy before the show in this breathtakingly beautiful building.

The venue is simply stunning

We recently had our wedding ceremony and reception at this incredible venue and cannot recommend it highly enough. The venue is simply stunning – The Wood Hall is an awe-inspiring space which provided a unique setting for our perfect day. Our guests were utterly charmed and delighted by it, as were we. The staff are extremely accommodating, friendly and helpful and went out of their way to ensure everything was exactly as we wanted. They’re a lovely, friendly team and an absolute pleasure to deal with.
